Origami July Arizona Paranormal: Tucson to Eureka

By Becky McKiddy-Gydesen

As I write this article I am in Eureka, NV exploring this old historical ghost town. Eureka is off the HWY 50 which is known as the loneliest road in America. It took myself and my co-pilot, Mayela, 11 hours to get to this old silver mining town. I was asked to be a guest speaker at a paracon event held out in this town. This small town has a few haunted historical buildings that I got to investigate, the first night I actually got to spend the night in one of the haunted locations.

Origami June Arizona Paranormal: Who you gonna call?

By Becky McKiddy-Gydesen

Sometimes we go back and re-visit a case to see if we can get more information. There have been a couple cases that we have investigated more than once and we sometimes get some of the same voices and same experiences, but it's never the exact same. Sometimes the spirits are more active because they know us and sometimes less active because we helped them out. In this field, you never know what you will get.

Arizona Paranormal May Arizona Paranormal: Do Ghost Actually Exist?

By Becky McKiddy-Gydesen

Do Ghost Actually Exist? This is usually one of the first questions I get asked when people find out what I do for a living.  My answer is always, "yes." Then the comments and questions start rolling in; this is how my 5 minute trip to the store turns into a 30-minute conversation. Some of the conversations can turn into something not so friendly, which is when I regret telling them what I do; but for the most part, people are curious about it. They ask if I have ever seen one, if I am scared of them, are they all bad, & how haunted is Tucson?

Arizona Paranormal April Arizona Paranormal: Reality vs TV Reality

By Becky McKiddy-Gydesen

I am sure we are all familiar with “reality” TV and hopefully, we all have a sense that it really isn’t much of a reality. All TV shows are edited and they always show the drama and exciting parts of the shows, well the same goes for the reality ghost TV shows. I thought this month I would compare notes to what you see on TV, and what you don’t.

Arizona Paranormal March Arizona Paranormal: Antiques and Object Attachments

By Becky McKiddy-Gydesen

Sometimes in the paranormal field, you will hear the words "object attachment", what this means is a ghost is attached to a certain item. Most of the time a ghost attaches itself to a particular item that meant something dear to them. These items can be as simple as a picture to something like a wedding dress or doll. One of the most famous object attachment stories is of Annabelle, in reality, she was a simple Raggedy Ann doll.

Arizona Paranormal February Arizona Paranormal: History + Paranormal

By Becky McKiddy-Gydesen

Have I ever mentioned how much research goes into the paranormal? If you want to be a good paranormal investigator it deals with so much more than just “ghost hunting”. You need to know the history of the land, of the building, and sometimes of the object and/or the people. History can start to explain some of the haunts that are taking place. I love the paranormal, but I also love history.

Arizona Paranormal January Arizona Paranormal: First Time as a Pro

By Becky McKiddy-Gydesen

The more I did my tours the more people I got to know and the more I found out about hauntings! In fact, I was able to close down my tour after a month of running it to work on a totally new script with new locations and stories! After having the business closed for 2 months I was able to re-open with that new script and a new ghost hunt, called Tucson ghost experience! Things were falling into place, but the team I was with was extremely busy and wasn't investigating much which was disappointing to me.

Arizona Paranormal December Arizona Paranormal: Investigations

By Becky McKiddy-Gydesen

Some may ask why do we try to debunk, the reason behind this is because if we call everything paranormal we wouldn't be taken seriously when we did find something ghostly. We would be like the boy that called wolf. We have been on cases that we find a lot that we can debunk and explain; such has exposed wiring can cause high EMFs which can cause you to feel like you are being watched. Shadows being seen because of angles of mirrors and lights hitting them certain ways. Odd noises due to certain appliances or animals, etc; we want to rule out everything that isn't paranormal so when we can't explain it, we know we got something good.

Arizona Paranormal November Arizona Paranormal: The ABCs of EMFs and EVPs, Maybe it's allergies!

By Becky McKiddy-Gydesen

We do however have a few scientific terms we use in ghost hunting, such as EMF and EVP. EMF stands for electromagnetic field which is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects and spirits are known to be able to affect this field, which is why they use EMF to try to detect their presence. EVP stands for electronic voice phenomena and these are the voices of the spirits that are recorded with a simple recorder."
