As I enter my busy season for my company and team, I thought it would be the perfect time to explain what it is my team actually does.
Tucson Ghost Society has been around for 4 years and we have had the honor of investigating some wonderful business like Fox theater, Borderlands Brewing Company, Midtown Merchant Antique store, 22nd Antique Store, La Cocina, and many more. We also have been able to help well 50 families with paranormal concerns for free.
I do find it funny how we do seem to get more cases in the month of October more than any other time of year; just throwing this out there but ghost do haunt all year long! Seriously though, I think more people are in that state of mind in October and more "aware" of things apparently. What I tell all my clients is that we are a team that goes off of evidence, not feelings. Sadly there are paranormal teams out there that aren't very professional and sometimes scare the clients more than they should. Some teams are in it just for a thrill, which isn't something they should do. My team puts a lot of work into the investigations and we only present hardcore evidence. We will try to debunk and find human causes before we call it paranormal. We do not use psychics or feelings to determine a haunting. I like to say my team is skeptic believers. We want to help prove the paranormal by not calling everything paranormal.
We do all of our services for free which includes researching the property, bringing in our DVR system, recorders, and equipment to investigate, and the evidence review. One case takes up to 3 weeks to complete, the evidence review takes the longest because we have to go through everything we recorded and then everyone on the team gets an input so we can find only the best evidence. I think a lot of people don't realize how much work truly goes into investigating. I have had team members come and go for many reasons, some because they simply didn't have the time. Some left due to the fact they didn't agree with some of the rules of the team; you see I am very strict with only presenting great evidence, not giving "blind" advice (in other words not giving people advice until we know for sure what is going on by investigating), not giving out personal information (I protect my team), and not going off of feelings. Some of my team are still around but not active in the moment like my co-host for Mysteries Explained, Dave, because he is not in Tucson right now but still a good friend and is welcomed back to the team as soon as he's back in town; and then Alette and Debi cause personal life and work get in the way sometimes.
My active team members work hard on this team and put a lot of their spare time into TGS. This team has become my family. So I want to give a huge shout out to my TGS family! Mayela has been there since day 1, she is my co-lead and one of my dearest friends. Robert is one of my new members and I see him becoming a really good friend and great team member. Michelle is also a new member that I feel will do very well on the team. Laurie has been with us for a couple of months now, she has to make long drives just to get to us so we appreciate her and she's a wonderful asset to our team. Reina has also been with us for a couple months and is fitting in wonderfully.
My daughter, Ashley, is also coming aboard to some of the investigations and learning the ropes; she's a senior in high school so her studies are coming first still. Then last but definitely not least, my husband Will, even though he doesn't really investigate, the team wouldn't have any of our equipment if it wasn't for him. He has helped finance the team, keep the equipment running, & he's helped on many cases by doing so many different things. He also puts up with me going insane with my paranormal company, radio show, writing, team, and my obsession with haunted places and things! Seriously though if it wasn't for my husband and this team, I couldn't be doing what I love to do! They volunteer and give it their all and I appreciate them doing everything they do.
So the next time you or someone you know has a paranormal concern, even if you don't turn to my wonderful team, I always encourage people to do research on the team they are bringing into their house and to make sure you never pay for an investigation.
Until next month, enjoy your Halloween and remember you are never truly alone!
